Update on Mike Gilbert

At 11:00 this morning Mike had surgery to amputate his right foot and part of his lower leg.
He came through the surgery well and when I - marge -talked to him
after surgery he indicated he needed to know something when I asked if
he wanted to know about his leg he shook his head yes, I told him it
was gone and he gave me the thumbs up. The leg was so infected we
didn't have any other alternatives it had to go to save his life, I
watched yesterday as his toes turned black and knew we had come to the
right decision. It was probably one of the hardest things I have ever
had to do as I signed the papers this A.M. but we left the decision up
to God and now we get on with the healing process and long term rehab
and we are anxious to see what God has planned for the rest of our
lives.

Friday, Mike will have surgery again as they plan to use muscle and
tissue from his leg to fix his knee back together. The Dr. said the
knee looks real good and it is healing nicely.

Mike is experiencing a lot of pain this P.M. so please keep him in
your prayers. They put in an epaderal for pain control and were hoping
when they get it regulated it will do it's job.
God bless you all,

Marge Gilbert

Mike Gilbert

Some of you know Mike Gilbert from Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church in Michigan. A couple of Sunday's ago, he was involved in a horrific auto accident. He broke 13 ribs, and will have to have his foot amputated tomorrow. Here is an update from the family from this morning.
We had a quiet Easter day here at the hospital with a few wonderful visitors that made our day!

Mike is so miserable and in so much pain it is so draining on him, His blood pressure and temp are both high tonight, He gets exhausted so easy. Sleeping at night is so difficult for him, He can't seem to relax at all when he is alone, We're so glad there is a place for us to stay down here. The first 4 nights we spent in the waiting room and now we have a room at the hospitality house connected to the hospital, We are
so thankful for it.

Mike delighted the nurses this morning when he had a note already when they came in his room after mid-night, It said HAPPY EASTER, They said it made there day and made them laugh that he wanted to be the first to tell them and make sure the were wished a happy ressurrection day, several hospital personel have remarked that they like to come in Mike's room as he has such a great attitude and is so patient with them in the midst of such intense pain and some have mentioned they feel a
heavenly presence in his room, I don't doubt this as God has under taken for Mike on a daily bases and continues to strengthen him and help him. We are so proud of him to show such a good attitude during what has turned into the most difficult time of his life.

This will be probably one of the most difficult weeks of our lives, Please continue to pray for us, We love you all and miss our friends and especially our church family at Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church, Thanks church family for your wonderful support.
God bless,
The Gilberts

Revival report

This last week we had just a great time together in the Lord. God
really moved in numerous services, and there were numbers of good times
around the altar. Bro. Stetler did a great job! In the Sunday evening
service, we had 20 or so visitors! We rejoice and thank the Lord,
however, may God help us to not only keep the ground we've gained but
grow further still.

Onward and upward!
